The Academy of St Martin in the Fields is one of the world’s best, most unique chamber orchestras.
The orchestra was formed in 1958 by Sir Neville Marriner of London’s leading musicians and was named after the eponymous church in which it gave its first concert. This legendary orchestra is known for its bright, fresh, nuance-rich interpretations and by concerts which were given with special energy and dedication.
The orchestra is known and beloved around the world. Its concerts are sold out years in advance. The orchestra’s art-related work is currently being led by the musical director and virtuous violinist, Joshua Bell, who contributes to the collegial spirit and flexibility of the small composition which is making music without a conductor - something which has become a trademark of the orchestra - as a soloist and concertmaster.
