Exhibition "From Mittens to Köler. The Birth of the Museum’s Collection"

The exhibition introduces the history of the collection of the Art Museum of Estonia from its founding in 1919 until World War II. At the time, farm artefacts, national handicrafts and other cultural assets were collected in addition to works of art.

Alongside the ethnographic artefacts, a selection of paintings, prints and sculptures from the inter-war period are on display, some of which are being shown for the first time. These works can now be seen again in their former home at Kadriorg Palace, where the museum was first located after the Republic of Estonia was founded.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the Art Museum of Estonia.
