Viru väravad
Viru värava eesvärav oli 14. saj rajatud Tallinna linnamüüri kaitseehitis, paar sajandit hiljem oli juba 8 väravat, mis koosnesid tornidest ja neid ühendavatest müüridest. Värava peatorn oli alati neljakandiline, eelväravad varustati ühe-kahe väikese ümartorniga.
Seoses vanalinna sissesõiduteede laiendamisega lammutati mitmeid väravaid. Ka Viru värav andis lõivu hobutrammiteele, mis ühendas Vana Turgu Kadrioruga.
Nurgatornid aga säilisid, ka on nähtav osa bastionist, mida Musumäeks kutsutakse. Kaupluste- ja restoraniderohke Viru tänav on kujunenud rahvarohkeimaks jalakäijate tänavaks vanalinnas.
