Sustainability in Tallinn

Welcome to Tallinn’s sustainable tourism website. We hope you will find valuable information for the development and provision of your services and products in foreign markets on this site. We have gathered information here that introduces the main areas of a sustainable destination, incl. accessibility, guidelines on environmentally sustainable event organisation and much more.

Lasting or sustainable tourism combines the principles of economic, social and environmental action. It’s important that the destination protects cultural heritage, offers a safe journey for visitors and treats guests, tourism entrepreneurs and local inhabitants equally and fairly. The aim of tourism development in Tallinn is to create a balanced operational model in which all three of those aspects are equally important and one is not put above another. We expect and presume that guests will visit locations responsibly, honour local circumstances, customs and cultures and reflect on their motivations for visiting. Value-creating relationships are important to both the visitors of a city as well as its inhabitants. It’s the only way to make a trip truly memorable.
