    Niguliste Museum (St. Nicholas´ Church)

The museum is closed from 10.01.2022 until autumn 2022 due to reconstruction works.Niguliste Church, built in the 13th century, is the home of Niguliste Museum. Enjoy ecclesiastical art in its historical context: medieval tombstones, unique altars, and a fragment of Tallinn's most famous work of art from Bernt Notke's painting the Danse Macabre (the 'Dance of Death'). This more than five-hundred-year-old painting mediates the worldview of the Middle Ages but is still relevant today. The silver items from churches, guilds, and the Brotherhood of Blackheads exhibited in the Silver Chamber are especially valuable.

Niguliste Church is not one of the art museums where you need hours or even days. But this quite compact museum has an exhibition with some of the most beautiful works of medieval art in all Europe... Read more comments
