Purchase and validity

Where can I buy the Tallinn Card?

You can buy your Tallinn Card online. You can also buy one on board of Tallinn-bound ferries or pick one up immediately upon arrival at the airport, ferry passenger port or bus station. If you didn't buy it there, chances are it's available at your hotel's reception desk. It's also sold at the centrally-located Tallinn Tourist Information Centre and in various travel agencies. How does it work?

The Tallinn Card is valid from the first time it is used and remains valid for the period specified by the card type, i.e. 24h, 48h or 72h. You must activate your mobile Tallinn Card on the start date you selected when you bought it and as indicated on the ticket. It will then be valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours from that moment. Show the Tallinn Card at the admission desks in museums and sights and to sightseeing tour providers. To receive discounts in cafés, restaurants and shops, remember to show your card before ordering or making a purchase. In buses, trolleys and trams, just validate your card by touching it to one of the orange card readers (at all vehicle entrances) at the start of each journey. Mobile Tallinn Cards can only be validated using the lower screen on the validator by the front door of the bus, trolley bus or tram.

When does my Tallinn Card become activated?

The Tallinn Card is activated the first time you use it and remains valid for the specified number of hours purchased, i.e. 24h, 48h or 72h. So you can buy it before your trip and start using it at any time during your stay in Tallinn.
You must activate your mobile Tallinn Card on the start date you selected when you bought it and as indicated on the ticket. The start date selected when buying a mobile Tallinn Card cannot be changed.

Is it possible to visit a museum more than once with the Tallinn Card?

No, the Tallinn Card is valid for only one admission to each attraction.

Is the Tallinn Card valid on consecutive days?

Yes. For instance, if you start a 24-hour card at noon today, it will be valid until noon tomorrow.

Are discounts available for students/seniors/families/groups?

There is no special price for students or seniors. We offer special prices for children up to 17 years old (inclusive). With an adult card you can bring along two children under 7 for free. Groups of 10 or more are eligible for a 10% discount on their Tallinn Cards when they purchase them directly from the Tallinn Tourist Information Centre. Payment for the cards can be made either in cash or by credit card.

Can I get a refund for the Tallinn Card or exchange it?

No, the Tallinn Card is non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for other types of cards.

How much does a Tallinn Card cost?

The cost of a Tallinn Card varies depending on the duration and pass type (adult or child). See our price list for the full details.

Are there Tallinn Cards for children with special rates?

With an adult card, you can bring along two children under seven for free.
Tallinn Cards for children up to 17 years old (inclusive) have separate prices – please check our price list!

How much can I save with the Tallinn Card?

The Tallinn Card provides free admission to the main museums and tourist attractions in the city, unlimited use of public transport and a range of discounts and benefits. If you buy the Tallinn Card PLUS, in addition to everything just mentioned you also get a free Tallinn City Tour hop-on, hop-off excursion.

Can I skip the lines?

Yes, at some selected attractions, you can skip the lines during your visit if you use the Tallinn Card:
Tallinn TV Tower (up to 100 people are allowed up in the tower at one time)
Tallinn Zoo (just register your Tallinn Card at the gate by showing it to the green card reader and go in)
Estonian Open Air Museum
Just show your Tallinn Card to skip the lines. Being able to skip the line not only saves time queuing up, but it helps to make your day stress-free and relaxing.

Where can I get the Tallinn Card booklet if I already have the mobile Tallinn Card?

You can get the complimentary Tallinn Card booklet by showing your mobile ticket at Tallinn Card sales points: at Tallinn Harbour, Airport, or Bus Station, or the Tallinn Tourist Information Centre. You can also plan your visit using the Tallinn Card’s attractions list on our website.

Attractions

Are the main attractions in Tallinn covered by the Tallinn Card?

Yes, entrance to all the main attractions is included with the Tallinn Card.

Are museums and attractions open on public holidays?

Most museums and sights are closed on national holidays, but plenty remain open. You can find specific information on our website under "Holidays".

Are the attractions accessible all year round?

The majority of attractions included on the Tallinn Card are open all year round with just a few days of closure, usually around holidays. You can find information on the opening hours of museums and attractions during the holidays on our website.
Some are more seasonal, however, and are shut during the summer or winter months so we do advise you to check the opening hours of museums and attractions before visiting to avoid disappointment.

Are museums and attractions open on Mondays?

Some of the museums and attractions are closed on Mondays. Before your visit, we recommend you to check the opening hours of museums and attractions on our website.

Transportation

Is public transportation - buses, trams and trolleys - included with the Tallinn Card?

Yes, the Tallinn Card allows unlimited free transport on Tallinn’s buses (up to No 73), trolleys and trams. Please remember to validate your card by touching it to one of the orange card readers (at all vehicle entrances) at the start of each journey.

Is transportation to/from the airport, port, railway station and bus station covered by the Tallinn Card?

You can easily use public transport for connections to/from the airport, port, railway station and bus station – it's all free with the Tallinn Card. 
Between Tallinn Airport and the city centre operates bus no. 2 and tram no. 4. 
The Port of Tallinn's passenger terminals are just a 5-minute bus/tram ride from the centre. Take tram no. 1 or 2 or bus no. 2.
From the railway station to the centre, take tram no. 1 or 2.
From the bus station, take bus no. 17, 17A, 23 or tram no. 2 or 4.

Do I need to validate my Tallinn Card on public transport?

Yes, validate your Tallinn Card by touching it to one of the orange card readers (at all vehicle entrances) at the start of each journey. Mobile Tallinn Cards can only be validated using the lower screen on the validator by the front door of the bus, trolley bus or tram.

How many times can I use public transport with the Tallinn Card?

The Tallinn Card allows unlimited, free use of Tallinn’s buses, trolleys and trams during the card's validity period – so you may use it as many times as you need.

Can I use the Tallinn City Tour Hop On Hop Off bus tour to travel around Tallinn?

Yes, when you choose the Tallinn Card PLUS, you can get free rides in the Tallinn City Tour Hop-on Hop-off bus tours. They are a great way to see the sights of Tallinn as well as get from A to B while listening to stories about Tallinn told by the audio guide.

How do I validate my mobile Tallinn Card or plastic Tallinn Card on public transport?

For public transport, register your mobile Tallinn Card's QR code at the front door of the vehicle: place the QR code of the Tallinn Card against the code reader screen of the rectangular validator.
To use the plastic Tallinn Card in public transport, show the card any of the orange validators inside the vehicle.
