Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir Concert – Veljo Tormis 95

Celebrating Composer Veljo Tormis’ 95th Anniversary on Naissaar Island!

Veljo Tormis’ music is one of those turtles upon whose back rests the world of sound created by Tõnu Kaljuste – one of its three great pillars. The second is Arvo Pärt, and the third is everything else. In an interview in the 1970s, Kaljuste admitted that without Tormis' music, his choir might never have been born. We don’t know what would have become of the conductor without that choir, but Kaljuste’s Choir – the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir – is the axis around which everything seems to revolve.

The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste, will perform.
