Kalamaja is one of the oldest districts in Tallinn. Situated just north of the picturesque Old Town, this area used to be home to fishermen - hence the name Kalamaja ("Fish House"). During both the Russian empire and the Soviet era, this area became a hub for factories and heavy industry, but now is one the most up-and-coming parts of Tallinn.
The walking tour starts in Telliskivi creative city, in front of F-Hoone and heads through the Kalamaja district, with views of old factories and houses, before reaching the old submarine factory of Noblessner and the Seaplane Harbour.
