Harku Lake was once called Loodjärv (Level Lake) because when people used to look at it from the top of the hill, the lake seemed to be as high as the sea – everything seemed to be level.
Harku Beach is the only lakeside beach in Tallinn. It is one of the first places in the capital where the water gets warm enough for swimming in the spring.
The beach has changing cabins, a shower, children’s playgrounds, and areas for ball games. Close by is a free parking area and an area to park bicycles. Harku Lake is also a good place for fishing.
Life guards are on duty from June to August.
