Tallinn Unveiled: A Haven for Nightlife Enthusiasts

I recommend starting your evening experience with a full stomach, and there are top-class eateries and restaurants in Tallinn for every taste and budget.

 

Peet Ruut

A zesty and funky restaurant in Tallinn Old Town. Serving simple and honest food, using local and organic produce. All wines are bio-dynamic or natural.

Barbarea

The number one meeting place at the end of Kopli in the Northern part of Tallinn. A place where the entire menu is designed for sharing and the wine list is dedicated to natural wine. Their inspiration comes from different parts of the world, always using as much organic raw materials as possible from small farms in Estonia.

Põhjala Tap Room

Offering 24 beers from Põhjala brewery and their friends. The chefs have prepared a Texas BBQ-themed menu, but they also have snacks, hot sandwiches, salads, and delicious desserts. All baked goods, sauces, pickled cucumbers and kimchi, bacon, and sausages are made on the spot.

Odessa

Botaanik

The bar, which could easily be someone's living room, serves the finest and best cocktails in town. As Botaanik is a small bar then reserving a table is a very good idea.

Hungr

The venue offers a contemporary, inclusive and safe(r) space where you can find both local LGBT+ people and their friends as well as those visiting Tallinn. The events held at the bar are unique and varied, during which you can enjoy performances by both Estonian and foreign artists.

HALL

The underground club HALL is the centre of free people and free thought, also it's the heart of Estonian techno and electronic music. It is a place where anyone can experience ultimate freedom and be who they are – a creature of the night.

Paavli Kultuurivabrik

Paavli Kultuurivabrik is a new magnet on Tallinn's cultural map, one of the capital's most important event and leisure centers. They have a beautiful apple orchard and operate as a meeting point for the community.

Club Studio

Studio offers a unique setting in a 15th-century house located centrally in the Old Town of Tallinn. The club has two floors – one for r'n'b music and another for electronic music – and a world class sound system for entertaining purposes only.

Uus Laine

Uus Laine is a non-judgmental event stage. A place to have conversations, a place to meet people, talk and discuss. A place to get together.

Philly Joe's Jazz Club

Philly Joe's Jazz Club is the incubator for Estonian jazz music. There are concerts, master classes, workshops, movie nights and several other events offering a selection of top artists from Estonia and the rest of the world.

Depeche Mode Bar

Depeche Mode Bar was originally opened in 1999 by a devoted fan. The bar is famous around the world and has been visited by a lot of celebrities including the members of Depeche Mode themselves.

Club Hollywood

Club Hollywood is one of the oldest nightclubs in Estonia with 27 years of experience, located in the Old Town. It's a rather big venue hosting parties from popular music to hip hop.

Rattatimm

A new favorite in the Uus Maailm district, working as a bike store during day time and a bar in the evenings. Also serving Italian culinary delights.

There's nothing more comforting than some rich (and spicy) food after a busy night out and sleeping in. Here are some of the places worth looking into. 

 

Burger Box

This little fast food place in Kalamaja has a very laid back environment and is a favorite spot among local young punks and artists. Burger Box offers a unique and tasty selection of burgers, falafel, fries, noodles and soup. There’s also a big terrace in the back.

HAN's

Some of the best Chinese food in Tallinn, made by true Chinese chefs with love and passion. 

Aarde Bakery

Have you heard of a bread bar before? Thought so. 
Their breakfasts give you warmth from the flames from their stone oven, a self-filling coffee cup, eggs straight off the coals and Aarde Black - bread so fresh that it’s barely cool enough to allow handling. Aarde Bakery can accommodate up to 10 guests at a time, so make sure to reserve a table.

Kaja Pizza Köök

Featuring the first wood-fired oven in Estonia by famous Stefano Ferrara, Kaja Pizza prides itself on serving authentic Napoli-style pizza. The restaurant puts heavy focus on organic products when creating their delicious pies.  

Tallinn is a city with a free atmosphere and friendly people, and in general it is also very safe. However, it is important to prioritize safety and understand that it's a prerequisite for a successful night out for everyone. 

 

In recent years, Tallinn has joined several projects and programs in the name of safety:

• The Health Development Institute's "Consciously Safer" Responsible Alcohol Serving Program
• The Social Insurance Board's campaign against sexual harassment in nightlife.
• When staying out after midnight in Tallinn, I recommend visiting especially those places that have joined the above-mentioned programs.
• On the weekends there are also night buses leaving from Balti Jaam and going to all the districts. Check the schedule on the official Tallinn transportation page.
